After months of hemming and hawing over the idea of camouflage pants, I purchased these Gap ones last week during their Columbus Day sale even though I still wasn’t 100% certain I was going to keep them. Would I honestly wear camo pants enough to make it worth it and what does a person even pair with them? Do I have the confidence to pull these bad boys off and to where does one even where them? All questions and self-consciousness aside, their new home with me was pretty much solidified the next day when I couldn’t wait to wear them and could easily pair them with solids already in my closet. Prepare to see lots of these pants in the future.
Saturday kicked off the start of our wedding season and it was in one of my favorite places: Iowa City baby! If you don’t know, I went to college at the University of Iowa in Iowa City in Iowa. Sorry if that was confusing, it’s pretty hard to follow, but it is actually located in Iowa. 🙂 Justin and I had a few hours to kill in between the ceremony and reception so we spent them eating at our favorite local spots, walking through campus, driving by our I-can’t-believe-we-lived-in-this dump of a house, reminiscing about the glory days, and taking these ridiculous pictures in front of Kinnick Stadium with the one and only Mr. Nile Kinnick. Let’s be clear…this is the first and only time I have EVER and will EVER wear heels in his presence. GO HAWKS! Is it football season yet?
My love for the flattering cut and endless styling options of peplum is no secret as I’ve worn it time and time and time again on this here blog. This pretty pink number purchased in Turkey is absolutely beautiful – the color is bright and fun, the velvety/suede fabric is luxurious, and the pleat detail adds construction and interest. Layering the peplum over this paisley dress hid the slim spaghetti straps making it more work/church/age appropriate without the usual go-to cardigan or blazer. How do you add the visual interest of layers in the summer without adding unwanted heat?
Taking this floral peplum top from daytime errands to date night fun was as simple as swapping out easy basics for brighter, bolder accents in the form of hot pink pants, glitzy jewelry, and lipstick. Adding a black clutch and strappy black heels toughened up the floral print, amped up the sexy, and made me taller (always a plus). So which look do you prefer: daytime or date night? P.S. These Old Navy jeans come in tons of colors and are on sale for $19 in stores and online (originally $34.50)!
Also, I’m really jazzed about my first BaubleBar purchase consisting of the necklace pictured and this one. I was not expecting them to come with their own individual velvet storage case (perfect for travel) and they looked exactly as they were pictured on the website! What more could a girl ask for? Now I just have to decide what to get next. Have you ever purchased anything from BaubleBar? What did you think? Have any favorite pieces that I should definitely add to my collection? (p.s. this is NOT a sponsored post, I just am sincerely excited about them)
